Filipino Imperialism: Emocratic Nonsense

Lately I happened upon a page with the title Imperalismo ng Pilipinas.  The idea struck me as funny. The Philippine Empire? Now many might ask what’s wrong with that? I would ask, I thought Filipinos hated imperialism? You have American, Spanish and corporate imperialism, but then you want Filipino Imperialism? That would constitute a great deal of hypocrisy.  

There are other ways Filipino Imperialism rears its ugly head.

Cecilio Arillo’s Greed and Betrayal was one of the seminal works that attempt to expose the first Aquino government as a corrupt regime bent on revenge and self-enrichment. His method in the book was merely dropping of facts, following his training as a journalist. Later on, I heard he had released a new book to follow up his work.

The Pinoy Claim to Sabah

I recently read in the newspaper that one of our local representatives, Bongbong Marcos, son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, wants to revive the Philippine claim on Sabah. When I read this, I was incredulous. We always have problems with places like the Spratleys, and other internal affairs, like the ZTE scandal and others, that we could hardly solve. If we have these, why should we bother with something like Sabah?
